Chapter Twelve

The chapter that was most engaging for me was chapter twelve. Chapter twelve talked about the used cars breaking down on the side of the road and how getting help costs a pretty penny. A big theme in this chapter that sticks out to me is how whenever there is a crisis where people are cornered and they have no other options someone will always take advantage of the situation. There is always a group of people who will try  to get ahead. These people have no mercy on anyone, and they don't care who they have to step on to get what they want. A quote from my active reading that I believe supports this theme is "You go steal that tire an' you're a thief, but he tried to steal your four dollars for a busted tire. They call that sound business." I think this quote really shows how corrupt people can be and how easy it is for people to lose their morals.

  1. I agree what these people did was wrong and immoral

  2. Unfortunately we live in a world of supply and demand and this chapter shows how when opportunity presents itself the person holding the desired goods are in control and demand regardless of the need or desire and can ask for and get what they want
