I thought in The
Revolution of Spirit the best part was when Aung San Suu Kyi's son said,
"I know that if she were free today my mother would be in thanking you
also ask you to pray that the oppressors and the oppressed should throw down
their weapons and join together to build a nation founded on humanity in the
spirit of peace." This is important to me because I also believe this is how
nations should function. Those in power need to cooperate more with their
civilians to form a united country based on peace. Myanmar is slowly growing
with a high literacy rating of 90%, private schools being tolerated, the
discovery of vast resources, and a growing economy.

The Dalai Lama is the
spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. He promotes basic human rights, world
morals, and peace for people. Currently the Dalai Lama is being criticized by
the Chinese government for siding with government officials in Japan. The
government is also blaming him for inspiring acts of taking their own lives in
protest such as self-immolation. The Dalai Lama is trying to free the Tibetan
people from oppression and suffering but faces challenges from authoritative
figures.
This picture shows a Tibetan monk going through self-immolation to create awareness towards the public about the oppression the people face. This monk believes Tibet can be freed through protest and is taking the extreme for those to understand how important his cause is.
I think you did a really good job of hitting all the main points. Good essay!
ReplyDeleteI think your photo really says it all. These people are forced to harm themselves just to bring awareness to other people.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good quote you picked out. It sums up a lot of what many people are trying to fight for today.
