The Grapes of Wrath

I believe chapter 12 is a very important chapter in this book.  It is a short chapter but I believe it foreshadows the trouble the Joad's are going to face.  "This is a free country.  Fella can go where he wants.  That's what you think!  Ever hear of the border patrol on the California line?  Police from Los Angeles--stopped you bastards, turned you back.  Says, if you can't buy no real estate we don't want you."  Even though this is a chapter that doesn't directly involve the Joad's I believe it gives us an insight on what to expect when and if they actually get to California.

  1. I also chose chapter 12 and your passage was one of the parts that stuck out to me the most.

  2. This chapter does seem to stand out. I agree that is likely foreshadowing. I would not be surprised if the Joads are stopped, or even prevented from entering California.

  3. Y'alls be craaaazyyyy! Tom already went to prison and already knows what it's about, I think that knowledge may keep him out of it and able to avoid being caught.

  4. I agree that the Joads may struggle to have enough money by the time they arrive at California

  5. That was a good quote from the book. It did seem to impact the Joads later on in the trip.
